Bayside Historical Society is currently open year-round for public events, private rentals, and film shoots. Please note that we are closed on all federal holidays.

Weekdays: 10am-3pm, Monday-Friday

A suggested $5.00 donation helps defray BHS’s operating expenses and maintain the Castle. Information about school, youth, college, and adult group programs is available on our educational programs page.

The Castle has a wheelchair accessible ramp with first floor access and a wheelchair accessible restroom. There is no elevator to the second floor, but there is a chair stair lift in place.

The entrance to Fort Totten is located at the corner of Bell Boulevard and 212th Street.

Car: Take the Clearview Expressway north to Exit 7 (Willets Point Boulevard); turn right onto the Cross Island Parkway service road; at the third light, turn left onto 212th Street, which leads into Fort Totten.  Or, take the Cross Island Parkway north to Exit 32 (Bell Boulevard) and make a right at the light into Little Bay Park and Fort Totten Park.

Free parking is available at the Little Bay Park parking lot just outside of the Fort Totten entrance (212 Street and Cross Island Parkway). From there, it's a short walk into the Fort to Bayside Historical Society, building #208.


Arrangements to drive into the park must be made in advance. Please call the Castle for details: 718-352-1548.

Bus: Take the Q13 or Q16 to the Fort Totten stop.

LIRR: Take the Port Washington Branch to Bayside; then either a cab (car service is available next door to the train station) or the bus (Q13) to Fort Totten Park.
