These wood framed medical barracks were replaced at the turn of the last century when Fort Totten underwent a major building campaign predominately in the Colonial Revival Style.

Since its inception, Fort Totten has had three hospitals including a Transit Hospital during the Civil War which cared for wounded soldiers returning from battle.
